Nat (Laia Costa), a 30-something translator escaping a traumatic past in the city, moves to the tiny, isolated Spanish village of La Escapa to rebuild her life. She rents a dilapidated house from a hostile landlord and struggles to fit into the insular community. Her life changes when she meets "El Alemán" (The German, played by Hovik Keuchkerian), a quiet, brooding neighbor. He makes her a crude, transactional proposition: he will fix her leaking roof in exchange for allowing him to sleep with her. What begins as a disturbing, purely physical agreement evolves into an obsessive, complex, and emotionally destructive affair that upends Nat's life.
