Joel (David Hernández) works as a night security guard in an apartment building where his cousin Mari (Carla Gaete), a recently divorced woman, resides. Joel essentially lives at his workplace while keeping a fragile, sex-based relationship with Mari. Just before Christmas/New Year's Eve, Joel is abruptly fired and forced to leave his workplace shelter to return to the overcrowded home of his mother and grandmother (who suffers from severe Alzheimer's), where familial strain and precarious living conditions push him to an emotional edge.
