Set in 1939 during the retreat of Spanish Republicans following the Spanish Civil War, Felip (Roger Coma) and his wife Lola (Bea Segura) are separated in the chaos at the French border. Felip is captured and sent to a concentration camp, while Lola is taken in by Manel (Oriol Tarrasón), a charismatic leader in the French Resistance ("La Nueve"). Believing her husband may be dead, Lola builds a new life and falls for Manel amidst the outbreak of World War II. When Felip miraculously survives and returns years later to fight alongside the Allies in liberating Paris, a complex emotional rift opens up as Lola finds herself deeply torn between her duty to her original husband and her love for Manel.
