Paul (Keith Singleton), a ventriloquist, possesses a creepy dummy named Tommy—a carved figure given to him as a child that has secretly taken on a life of its own. As Paul's romantic interest Donna begins to suspect something sinister about the wooden figure, Tommy turns fiercely protective and jealous, eliminating anyone who comes between Paul and his puppet act.
