Set in the Dominican Republic during the 1950s under the brutal dictatorship of Rafael Leónidas Trujillo (Luis Alberto García), the series follows the intersecting lives of two women: Minerva Mirabal (Sandy Hernández), an idealistic Dominican law student who becomes a central figure in the anti-Trujillo underground resistance, and Arantxa Oyamburu (Essined Aponte), an immigrant Spanish dancer trying to survive in the country. As Trujillo's totalitarian regime tightens its grip through violence, paranoia, and political assassinations, Minerva and her sisters (known by their code name "Las Mariposas") put everything on the line to challenge the regime, sparking a movement that would alter the history of the nation.
