Raymond Aibelli (Jeremy Davies) is a promising pre-med student who is forced to cancel his prestigious summer internship in Washington, D.C., to stay at home in suburban Connecticut. His traveling salesman father (Benjamin Hendrickson) demands that Raymond take care of his mother, Susan (Alberta Watson), who is recovering from a severe leg fracture in a heavy cast. Isolated in a suffocating household and under constant pressure from his domineering father, Raymond finds his life grinding to a halt. As Susan grows increasingly emotionally needy and physically dependent on Raymond for everyday tasks, the boundaries between mother and son blur, culminating in a secretive, highly controversial incestuous sexual encounter.
