Signora is a 2004 Italian period drama directed by Francesco Laudadio set in Rome in 1933 during the height of Mussolini's fascist regime, in which Sarah, a beautiful and wealthy American aristocrat married to a powerful Italian businessman, falls passionately in love with Guido, a handsome young antifascist engineer working on the construction of Sabaudia. The two begin a consuming secret affair and Sarah is ready to leave her husband for him — but Guido suddenly vanishes without a trace, leaving her devastated and consumed by jealousy.
