In the early 1990s, 17-year-old Isabella (Barbora Bobulova) became a teen pop sensation with her hit song "Tic Tac". More than twenty years later, her music career has stalled, and she continues to perform that same single in local bars around Ferrara. She is accompanied on guitar by her now-grown son, Bruno (Alessandro Piavani). Mother and son share an unhealthy, deeply codependent, and chaotic life, acting more like peers than parent and child. Their suffocating bond begins to break when Bruno meets Arianna (Federica Sabatini), a singer in an indie band who encourages him to step out of his mother's shadow and pursue his own musical aspirations. At the same time, Umberto (Massimiliano Gallo), a mature man, enters Isabella's life, prompting her to realize she must finally let her son go and build an independent life of her own.
