Anna is a selfless, hardworking single mother who has devoted her entire life to raising her daughter, Vika. Blinded by parental affection, Anna fails to realize that she has raised a profoundly spoiled, fiercely narcissistic egoist. Vika seamlessly manipulates her mother's good nature to fund an incredibly lavish wedding, demand constant financial bailouts, and eventually kick Anna out of her own city apartment, forcing her into isolated country living so the newlyweds can have the property. Anna yields to every demand without protest. However, Vika's superficial paradise rapidly crumbles when she discovers she is biologically unable to conceive, causing her fragile marriage to fracture. Depleted of funds and desperate to keep her husband from filing for divorce, Vika turns to her mother with the ultimate, unthinkable emotional demand: she begs Anna to act as her surrogate mother and carry her child. Forced into a corner by her daughter's frantic desperation, Anna must choose between drawing a final, agonizing boundary or making the ultimate sacrifice of her body, health, and dignity to keep her daughter's world from shattering.
