Pays is a 2016 Canadian French-language drama directed by Chloé Robichaud, in which Emily, an American mediator, and Félixe, a newly elected Canadian MP, travel to Besco — a fictional small island nation — to negotiate a major mining investment deal with the country's president Danielle. As the high-stakes political negotiations unfold, the three women find themselves caught in a charged personal dynamic — professional boundaries blur into something more intimate between them, with desire and power becoming impossible to separate as each woman navigates her own agenda both at the negotiating table and behind closed doors.
