Jan (Keve Hjelm), a emotionally damaged man, brings his fiancée Mariana (Lena Brundin) to his childhood estate to confront deep-seated trauma before their wedding. Through surreal flashbacks, Jan recalls his childhood with his glamorous, decadent mother, Irene (Ingrid Thulin), whose hedonistic lifestyle, promiscuous affairs, and inappropriate physical intimacy created an unhealthy psychological dependency that continues to threaten his adult relationships.
