Set in 1998 Valladolid, Nines (Malena Alterio) is a conservative housewife whose quiet, predictable life is shattered when her husband falls into a coma, leaving her to handle their failing video rental shop, "Dorothy," which is on the verge of bankruptcy. Desperate to keep the store afloat and support her family, Nines discovers that adult films are the only genre consistently generating revenue. With the help of her store clerk Chon (Celia Morán) and an eccentric, cinephile clerk named Agus (Álvaro Mel), Nines pivots the shop to specialize in adult entertainment, forcing her to confront her own conservative morals, neighborhood taboos, and long-repressed views on sex and desire.
