Nabelschnur is a 2016 German short film directed by Milena Aboyan in which Todor, a man in his early thirties, still lives entirely under his mother's roof — she cooks for him, irons his shirts, bathes him, and falls asleep with him in her arms every night in a suffocatingly symbiotic co-dependent bond that has never allowed either of them to grow up. Everything changes one night when Todor comes home late from an office party, having slept with a woman — and the mother's reaction to this first intrusion of the outside world reveals just how deeply possessive and unhealthily intimate their relationship truly is.
