Returning to Franco-era Spain after years of exile, an older, respected intellectual visits a close family friend and develops a manic, unhinged sexual fixation on his host's teenage daughter. After a violent encounter crosses catastrophic boundaries, the young girl develops a dangerous, matching obsession with him, trapping them both in a dark, irrational spiral of psychological guilt, hidden passion, and brutal murder.
