Mariana (Antonia Zegers) is a privileged 42-year-old Chilean woman who spends her days managing her wealthy father's business affairs, dealing with her indifferent Argentine husband Pedro (Rafael Spregelburd), and undergoing fertility treatments. Seeking an escape from her regimented, sterile life, she takes up horseback riding. Her instructor, Juan (Alfredo Castro), is a 60-year-old former army colonel who is currently under investigation for human rights abuses committed during the Pinochet dictatorship. Drawn to Juan's quiet intensity and mysterious past, Mariana embarks on a complex, risky affair with him, forcing her to confront her family's complicity in the country's dark history.
