Directed by Claire Denis, this dark, fractured French neo-noir thriller unravels a bleak story of corporate corruption, power imbalances, and severe sexual exploitation. The narrative follows Marco Silvestri (Vincent Lindon), a container ship captain who returns to Paris after his brother-in-law commits suicide following the bankruptcy of the family shoe business. Marco’s sister, Sandra (Jeanne Balibar), blames a wealthy, ruthless tycoon named Edouard Laporte (Michel Subor) for the ruin of their family and the severe trauma inflicted on her teenage daughter, Justine (Lola Créton). Seeking vengeance, Marco moves into Laporte's apartment building and begins a calculated affair with Laporte's mistress, Raphaëlle (Chiara Mastroianni). However, his attempts to dismantle Laporte's life lead him directly into a pitch-black web of systemic abuse and horrifying complicity.
