Marie (Anne Coesens) is a 35-year-old encyclopedia salesperson living a quiet, comfortable life in the suburbs with her loving husband, François (Michel Bompoil), and their young son. Her life appears ideal, but she feels an unspoken emotional emptiness. While working her sales route, Marie meets Bill (Tony Todd), an older American craftsman who works with wood. An intense, purely physical attraction sparks between them. Marie begins a secret, passionate affair with Bill, meeting him during her work hours. As the sexual awakening revitalizes her, keeping the secret from her devoted husband becomes an overwhelming emotional burden that threatens to fracture her identity and marriage.
