La Vie de Jésus (1997) Stream online

Set in a bleak, economically depressed northern French village, Bruno Dumont's raw social realism masterpiece follows Freddy, a young, unemployed epileptic man who spends his aimless days riding motorcycles with his listless gang of friends. The only anchor in Freddy's stagnant routine is his intense, volatile relationship with his girlfriend, Marie. However, their bond completely shatters when Freddy and his toxic, xenophobic friends commit a horrific local crime. Disgusted and repulsed by Freddy's behavior, Marie dumps him and accepts the romantic advances of Kader, a gentle young man of North African descent. Unable to accept the breakup or her new relationship, Freddy is consumed by an intense, destructive sexual jealousy, turning Marie’s pursuit of a better life into a tragic catalyst for small-town racial violence as his gang seeks a brutal revenge against her new partner.
