La Distancia is a 2006 Spanish neo-noir thriller directed by Iñaki Dorronsoro in which Daniel, a young boxer repeatedly on the verge of winning the title, commits a robbery that lands him in prison — where a corrupt and closeted gay policeman named Guillermo blackmails him into committing a murder in exchange for his freedom. Once released, Daniel climbs back into the ring but is horrified to find that guilt and rage now consume every fight — and haunted by his conscience, he tracks down Raquel, the widow of the man he killed, who works as a prostitute in a local club, and the two fall into a deeply complicated romantic relationship built on guilt, desire and secrets neither of them can escape.
