Darko (Malik Blumenthal) is a 22-year-old undocumented Macedonian man living on the margins of German society in North Rhine-Westphalia, surviving through petty crime and odd jobs while caring for his sick mother. At a wedding where he works, he meets Alina (Antje Traue), a mysterious, elegant woman who works as a restorer. Despite their drastically different worlds, they spark a passionate love affair. However, Darko's precarious status as an illegal immigrant and Alina's secrets threaten to unravel both of their lives.
