After receiving a dishonorable discharge from the military in Afghanistan, penniless veteran Thomas returns to his desolate East German hometown of Jerichow to rebuild his life. Following a chance encounter with Ali Özkan, a wealthy but deeply paranoid Turkish immigrant who runs a successful chain of local snack bars, Thomas is hired as Ali’s personal chauffeur and right-hand man. Brought directly into the family business, Thomas is immediately drawn to Ali’s enigmatic, beautiful wife, Laura, who is trapped in a loveless marriage of convenience to escape her own past debts. It does not take long for Thomas and Laura to spark a passionate, highly deceptive extramarital affair right under the nose of her intensely jealous husband. Bound by a strict pre-nuptial agreement that prevents her from leaving empty-handed, the cheating wife and her lover begin plotting a cold-blooded scheme to eliminate Ali permanently, plunging all three into a dangerous noir web of capitalism, guilt, and deadly betrayal.
