Stella is a country girl about to marry her longtime boyfriend. One evening, while walking home, she is attacked and raped by a group of hooded men. Instead of reporting the attack or breaking down, Stella enters a state of reactive shock: she calls off the wedding, isolates herself, and begins dating Franco , the owner of the atelier where she bought the dress, a slimy man who seemed to be the only one who "understood" her. The brutal twist comes at the end: Stella finds the same clothes one of her attackers was wearing in a canvas bag and realizes the truth. Franco was part of the gang of rapists. He had "conquered" her after the rape, either to control her or out of a distorted sense of possession. When Stella discovers this, he attempts to catch up with her while she runs away, but is hit and killed by a bus right before her eyes. The film ends with her alone, trapped in a never-ending trauma.
