Set on a plantation in South America during the 19th century where slavery persists despite legal abolition, a violent rebellion breaks out when slaves take advantage of a local voodoo ceremony to revolt. A brutal conflict unfolds between the enslaved workers and the cruel plantation overseer (Rolando Fernández). Amidst the bloodshed, revenge, and racial tension, a forbidden love affair develops between Manuel (Julio César Imbert), an enslaved man, and Gaby (Susana Kamini), the wealthy white plantation heiress, while matriarch Catherine Jones (Yvonne De Carlo) attempts to maintain control over the plantation and its family.
