Alex (Richard E. Grant), a highly stressed city professional/executive, decides he needs a break and escapes London for a quiet retreat in the English countryside. However, his peaceful getaway is derailed when he is drawn into the chaotic world of an eccentric local amateur theatrical production and becomes entangled in the lives and romantic dramas of the rural community, including a French woman named Michele (Nathalie Baye).
