Set in a dystopian Brazil in the year 2027 where evangelical Christianity governs daily life, Joana (Dira Paes) is a devout 40-year-old notary clerk. She uses her bureaucratic position to persuade divorcing couples to reconcile, directing them to "Divino Amor," an evangelical group that uses non-conventional group rituals and partner-swapping to reignite marital bonds while preserving the sacred union. Joana and her husband Danilo (Julio Machado) desperately want a child, but Danilo suffers from low sperm count. Despite participating in sanctioned group rituals at "Divino Amor" where infidelity is re-framed through religious dogma, Joana unexpectedly becomes pregnant—sparking a deep crisis of faith when she discovers the true paternity of her unborn child.
