Valérie (Belén Fabra), a 28-year-old French woman living in Barcelona, possesses an intense hypersexuality that dictates her daily life and relationships. Encouraged by her free-spirited grandmother (Geraldine Chaplin) to embrace her desires and keep a journal, Val spends years engaging in casual encounters. Her addiction eventually costs her a corporate job, after which she meets Jaime (Leonardo Sbaraglia), a charismatic businessman. Though they marry and move into a home together, Jaime quickly reveals himself to be possessive, abusive, and emotionally unstable. As their relationship deteriorates and financial distress mounts, Val leaves him and turns to high-end prostitution to survive, ultimately forcing her to confront her addiction and reclaim control over her own life.
