Mihail (Félix Lajkó), a quiet young man, returns after many years to his remote hometown in the Danube Delta to claim his late father's property among the reeds. He finds his mother living with a harsh new husband (Sándor Gáspár) and meets his sister, Fauna (Orsolya Tóth), whom he never knew grown up. Seeking refuge from their oppressive household and abusive stepfather, Fauna joins Mihail out on the water, where they begin building a secluded house on stilts. As their emotional and spatial isolation deepens, their bond turns romantic, drawing fierce hostility and eventual violence from the stepfather and local villagers who reject their relationship.
