In the isolated Australian outback town of Wala Wala, tensions simmer between traditional Indigenous laws and Western law enforcement. Kate (Angie Milliken), the schoolteacher's wife, initiates a passionate extramarital affair with Tony (Aaron Pedersen), a young local Aboriginal man. Their secret sexual liaison takes place at a sacred Indigenous site, breaking a deep tribal taboo. When the affair and sacrilege are exposed, it triggers a chain of violent retribution under tribal payback law, culminating in Tony's murder and putting the local police chief, Ray Lorkin, in the center of an escalating cultural crisis.
