Dark Obsession (1989) Stream online

Dark Obsession is a 1989 British psychological thriller directed by Nick Broomfield and starring Gabriel Byrne and Amanda Donohoe, in which Sir Hugo Buckton — a wealthy aristocrat with a beautiful wife Ginny, an earldom, and a powerful position in London's financial world — is consumed by a paranoid, burning jealousy that Ginny is sleeping with her handsome business partner Raul. One drunken night out with his old army friends turns into a nightmare when Hugo, at the wheel of a car, runs over a young woman on a dark rainy street — and the group drives on, leaving her to die. The victim bears a striking resemblance to Ginny, and Roger Ebert's review suggests Hugo may have deliberately avoided braking in a drunken moment of murderous jealousy. As the cover-up closes in and one of Hugo's friends is tortured by guilt, the film becomes a suffocating portrait of British upper-class decadence, sexual obsession, and moral corruption.
