Francesca (Maya Sansa) and Iacopo (Libero De Rienzo), a young middle-class couple expecting a child, take a trip into the Italian countryside to visit Maddalena (Galatea Ranzi), an older woman who lives in a secluded rural home. What begins as a retreat to connect with nature quickly turns tense as contrasting lifestyles, personal ideologies, and suppressed desires surface between the couple and their host.
