In 1942, during World War II, a young Jewish man named Albert (Christian Friedel) flees persecution and finds refuge at a remote Black Forest farm owned by Fritz (Hans-Jochen Wagner) and his wife Emma (Brigitte Hobmeier). Although Fritz agrees to shelter Albert in exchange for farm labor, tension grows because Fritz is impotent and unable to father an heir. Fritz makes a desperate request, asking Albert to secretly sleep with Emma to impregnate her. What begins as a transactional agreement evolves into a passionate dynamic between Emma and Albert, triggering intense jealousy, guilt, and emotional turmoil.
