Angy, a British publisher specializing in Spanish history and literature, travels to Madrid alongside her husband in pursuit of lost literary treasure: the unpublished manuscripts of Benton, an English poet who lost his life in Huesca during the Spanish Civil War. Their investigation leads them to Mainar, a battle-weary, elderly anarchist veteran who holds the fragile documents. However, as Angy immerses herself in Mainar's past and the haunting legacy of the Civil War, the psychological weight of the encounter fractures her marriage, escalating long-simmering marital tensions and forcing both the couple and Mainar to confront their own unresolved personal inner dramas.
