In 1914, on the eve of World War I, Lucia (Marianna Fontana) is an illiterate goat herd living on the rural island of Capri with her conservative, patriarchal family. Her routine life is upended when a commune of Northern European artists and vegetarians, led by the charismatic painter Seymour (Reinout Scholten van Aschat), settles near her grazing lands to practice a utopian lifestyle centered on free love, sunbathing, and nature worship. Drawn to their ideals, Lucia secretly interacts with the commune, developing a close bond with Seymour. At the same time, she seeks medical care for her ailing father from Carlo (Antonio Folletto), a young socialist doctor who opposes the commune's idealistic mysticism with rational science. Caught between her traditional family, Carlo's political idealism, and Seymour's free-spirited enclave, Lucia undergoes a profound personal and sexual awakening.
