Ecaterina is a seemingly devout high school religion teacher in a conservative Romanian town, living a strictly structured life as the wife of Dragoș, the local Orthodox priest. Her quiet, highly controlled reality begins to fracture when she crosses paths with Iuliu, a rebellious, intensely magnetic 16-year-old student who transfers into her class with a dark past. What begins as Ecaterina's attempt to counsel and morally reform the troubled teenager quickly devolves into a consuming, forbidden physical relationship. As Ecaterina completely loses her sense of control and undergoes a profound crisis of faith, Iuliu's infatuation turns deeply obsessive and dangerous.
