Zé Alberto (Adriano Luz) and Laura (Sofia Alves) carry on a dangerous clandestine affair. Complications mount because Zé Alberto is married to Fernanda (Fátima Belo), who is Laura's sister—and whose own husband is currently serving time in prison for murder. Upon discovering the betrayal, Fernanda uses her knowledge of the affair to threaten and manipulate the lovers.
